Alert: Drug Turn-in Location

Hi, Inner Easties!
If you missed the recent drug turn-in event at the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (4735 East Burnside, formerly PPB’s SE Precinct), keep this link on hand: https://apps.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/pubdispsearch. These locations are available year round to take unwanted prescription medicine. Just enter your zip code to find a place nearby.
When was the last time you went through your medicine cabinet, kitchen cabinets, first aid or travel kits? Time flies, especially when it comes to expired medications! I would expect that most people know that medication should not be flushed down the toilet because it will enter our waterways. We see many teenage addictions start when kids peruse grandparents’ and parents’ medicine cabinets. If you have had a loved one who has been in hospice care and you have not yet cleared those residual medicines, this would be a good time to follow up on that. If you have elderly friends or neighbors whose spouses have died, it would be very kind to offer to take the unneeded medications to a facility for them. They will take over the counter medicines as well as prescriptions. They will not take sharps or medical tubing, bags, etc.
Thank you for doing your part to safely dispose of unwanted medicines.
